Ranks
These are historically accurate British ranks from the Napoleonic Wars. Note that these ranks do not represent combat skill--they only represent chain of command so that we can easily identify who is in charge when a superior officer falls in battle or is unable to attend an event.
From highest to lowest:

The highest rank in The Black Watch. Reserved not just for the leader of the regiment, but the leader of the army.

Second in command. The Colonel often leads the regiment while the Field Marshal leads the army on horseback.
